I have a Lacie 250G external and it has been great. This was probably mentioned by me on Stilldead's link above. Lacie has some cool "stackable" ones now too - they look like Lego blocks - lol. I agree with swinging the 500 if you can also, as i am now in the market for another 250. The Lacie stackables may be worth looking into if you want to buy just one at a time - i havent' looked into them real closely, but they sound cool, ive been pretty happy with the Lacie product so far.

I have one of the LaCie stackables and it has been very dependable. It has been running constantly for over a year now with no problems. I have recently been thinking of acquiring another...

thanks!! - that is good to know since im seriously considering those now also. glad to get a positive report before shelling out the cash :)
